Consultation

What is involved ...

Relevant health history is taken before a physical examination of the hair and scalp, where inflammation, scaling and hair follicle density can be analysed. If necessary, photos are taken using a derma scope, as it is good to have photographic evidence of the response to treatment. Sometimes microscopic analysis or laboratory tests will be necessary before a diagnosis can be made.

Once the problem has been diagnosed then an effective management plan and treatment can be initiated. Once the imbalance is corrected, the hair loss will slow about 2 to 3 months afterwards, and the hair will then fully recover. Hair has an enormous impact on our social interaction and psychological well-being and forms part of who we are and how we want others to perceive us. Getting the very best out of your hair and skin means creating a balance between our internal and external environments. Nutrition, physical exercise, stress reduction and a positive outlook all play an integral role in maintaining good health and good hair growth.

As a trichologist I work alongside General practitioners, endocrinologists, dermatologists and other allied Health professionals, to ensure the best outcome for the patient.
